Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef , 80-90% lean
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 Tablespoons taco seasoning , more to taste
  • ½ cup salsa or tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup water , more as needed
  • 12 taco shells , or small tortillas

S&P to taste

Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, cilantro

      Instructions

      • Add the ground beef and onion to a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally breaking up any large pieces.

      • Drain off extra grease and add in the taco seasoning, salsa and water. Bring to a light simmer adding more water as desired.

      • Serve in taco shells as-is or place in a 9×13" dish to bake. Then add cheese and bake at 400°F for 10 minutes.

      • Add desired toppings.

      Notes

Optional: You can also add 1-2 Tablespoons of refried beans to the base of the tacos. If I’m adding them, I like to place them in a zip top bag and then snip the top off and place it on the bottom of the shell.

This recipe should make enough for about 2 Tablespoons of meat in each taco.

You can mix in some cooked rice and black beans to stretch the meat even further.

All these dishes are really mouth watering. From looks to deliciousness, Mexican food gets 5 stars for everything. This is the reason I love Mexican dishes like Mexican rolls, Mexican burrito, Mexican sausage and eggs. Also, having all these with spicy salsa or dip like tomatillo green chile salsa, gourmet guacamole, roasted tomato salsa, etc. pushes me in the ocean of taste and deliciousness.

Okay. I just want to say that EVERYTHING on this page looks not only edible, but DELICIOUS. Please, please, please never stop sharing such awesome recipes. Ending with that “churro cupcake” just made me sad because I know I don’t have the ingredients to create it and I really need one, like right now. Haha.

I very disappointed with this web site. I asked for the best Mexican food recipes and I get Lasagna, pizza, cowboy caviar and others. What region of Mexico is the pizza from? or the Cowboy caviar? If you are selling updated south west or TEX.,CAL. foods why then don’t you say so. I want the, THE Mole recipe and it’s not from Betty Crocker
