YONKERS POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyHappy 40th Birthday to Paris Ramcharan of Brooklyn, New York! We won't forget the time Paris came to several stores in Yonkers to steal things and try to escape by hiding in a bush a few months ago. He probably wasn't expecting Officers in the YPD AWARE Crime Control Center to be following him on camera to assist in his apprehension. Ramcharan stole several items from Kohl's on Central Park Avenue before fleeing with them in a suitcase. Kohl's staff called YPD, and the AWARE Room staff quickly located Ramcharan fleeing—however, he took a quick detour to steal some more items from a nearby CVS. AWARE Room Officers then saw Ramcharan flee with a shopping cart and a suitcase full of stolen goods southbound on Central Park Avenue, ultimately attempting to hide in a bush until the coast was clear. The AWARE Room directed Officers right to him, shocked as he may have been to be discovered in his secret hiding place. Ramcharan was charged with several misdemeanors in relation to this incident. Another example of great teamwork between our Officers on the road and our staff in our AWARE Crime Control Center. With everyone working together to apprehend these criminals, we will continue to have great success in combatting these crimes here in Yonkers. Since his arrest here in December, Paris has been out awaiting trial but has managed to get arrested five more times for theft in NYC, even as recently as last week. This rounds out his lifelong arrest total at 20. We appreciate Mr. Ramcharan's refraining from theft in Yonkers, although we wish he would stop taking things that don't belong to him, no matter where he is. #yonkerspd #yonkerspolice #yonkers #shoplifting #theft #arrest33Like20

At just before 5:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2024, the Yonkers Police Department received a report of a person down in the street on Buena Vista Avenue between Main Street and Dock Street. After arriving on the scene, first responders located an unconscious female in the street and attempted life-saving measures. This female was transported to an area hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. She has since been identified as Fateema Respress, 35, of Yonkers. The City of Yonkers and the Yonkers Police Department extend their condolences to her friends and family. Detectives from the Yonkers Police Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, Digital Forensics Unit, and Accident Investigators from our Traffic Division responded to the scene to investigate. This investigation revealed that Respress appeared to have tripped and fallen in the roadway at that location. Investigators also found as she was attempting to get up, a black SUV traveling northbound on Buena Vista Avenue struck Respress, then fled the scene. Detectives were able to locate this vehicle and apprehend the driver later in the day on April 8, 2024. The driver is identified as Geneby CLASE of Yonkers, New York. CLASE is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident resulting in Death, a D-Felony in the State of New York. “Our Yonkers Detectives have proven, once again, their excellence and expertise in investigating crimes of all nature,” said Yonkers Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza. “This Department and our dedicated members will never stop championing justice for victims of any crime in this City. We will continue to do so, as is our duty to the community we serve.” NOTE: Booking charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.38Like16

YONKERS POLICE DEPARTMENT5 days agoAgencyLet’s check in with our midnight Officers in the 2nd Precinct who caught a man red-handed a few weeks ago rummaging through one of our residents’ cars in the early hours of the morning. Raymondo SEPULVEDA of Brooklyn was found sitting in the driver’s seat of a pick-up truck in the area of Central Park Avenue and Midland Terrace just before 2:00 am on March 28; a vehicle which he admitted on body-cam was “not his.” Officers found that he stole several items from within that vehicle and placed him under arrest. Mr. SEPULVEDA was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. He was released with an appearance ticket in accordance with bail requirements. Raymondo has a history of nine arrests ranging from theft to robbery and has failed to appear in court four times in the past. Plot twist- Mr. SEPULVEDA failed to appear in court on our charges. Therefore, he has an active warrant out of this jurisdiction. If anyone has any information on Mr. SEPULVEDA’s whereabouts, please contact the Yonkers Police Department’s Warrant Squad at 914-377-7253. #yonkerspd #yonkerspolice #yonkers #arrest #theft #warrant #wanted20Like14
